I know alot of us have this problem. Non of the DIY's I found worked and I was considering getting a new box, but then I found the link bellow and it fixed the problem.
Hope it works for you...you'll need Acrobat to open it. http://www.totalbmwmag.com/HandsOn/TechFeb04.pdf |

Thanks for the link... I like this more than drilling screws into the plastic.

Good find! Thx for the link. Drilling holes is also cheap, but this is a cleaner and relatively safe way to fix the sagging glovebox.

Be careful drilling - you'll drill right through the tabs that hook the vent part to the glovebox part. I found only one (on the drivers side) was needed. Not a true fix. However, to TRULY install the glove box properly, with every screw actually hitting the metal screw fitting, is a huge challenge. Normally one misses. Today I got them all in (even the bottom ones, where you can screw them in loosely and use the catch tabs, then tighten. It took several tries, even after all these years. When I got it right, there was no sag. I couldn't even push it any tighter.
PS I used a plastic kit to patch the other hole. |

Update: I did this fix, and it brought the glove box up about 1mm. It's still saggy as an old lady.
