I have SMGII and haven't had one problem. I love it. SMGIII all the way.

I wish I could have both, I love the control of MT but find it a hassle some other times, then again Ive allways loved paddle shifting. But the clutch will be gone. I can't decide.

Just my opinion but definitely M/T. I sold my C55 after a year because I longed to drive a manual transmission again. (I know SMGIII is in a different league)

If I could afford to track the car, probably a different story. Anyway, I suspect you can't go wrong with either as the new car will be a beast and a blast to drive.

Mine will definitely be an SMGIII. Manuals are a lot of fun, but as a daily driver in traffic infested NY, you can't beat the ease of the SMG tranny. Best of both worlds IMO.

SMG may be faster... but I think I will really regret it if I don't drive a manual anymore.

When i had my E46 M3.. i chose Manual... and due to traffic in socal area.. i regret not getting the SMG... and i did drive my friend's car with SMG... and it was more relaxing.. yet still fun....

Bottomline.. i know this debate will continue into the new generation M... but it comes down to personal choice and what you want from your M3...

I personally like the new technology of SMGIII... i do love the 6 speed manual but i think ill head into SMG world for the E90 M3..

Gotta be Manual Transmission for over here in the UK we have some many beautiful twisting country roads the driving experience just wouldnt be same without having a clutch to slip when driving hard and some heel and toe breaking.
