Default Fuel tank sending unit, Fuel filter, Fuel pressure regulator. Update and question

Attached below are the parts and labor I need to fix my car. Going back to this thread:http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=155177

I guess the Fuel regulator, pump and sending unit need to be replaced, but I feel it exceeds what the price should be.

Does this sound right? Is there any kind of warrenty, recall, or bulletin on this?

Is this job hard to do with 2-3 people?

I can just buy the parts I need and do it myself if its not hard.

Let me know what you guys think. This will exceed $1,500 at the dealership.

Please let me know what you think.

Justin

Yikes!

The fuel filter and the regular are really easy to remove and replace.

The fuel pump, it seems you will have to drop the tank to get to.

You can probably do this with a friend (dropping tank) and you might spend $425.00.

according to realoem
clamps are 56 cents
the level sensor is $47
the pump $231
filter $39
regulator $70

I've ALWAYS paid less than their prices including my BMWCCA a good bit less...
total $390, I'd pay about $330 or so...

the labor:
filter/regulator ~1/2 hr (I've done it)
the fuel pump/level sensor maybe 1 hr (I've done it on an e36, very similar)
w/ cleanup and all 2.5 hrs max...they want ~7 hrs!

both jobs are very simple if you have any mechanical apptitude...

disconnect battery

the sensor & pump are accessed by removing the rear seat (5 minutes)
they are secured in the tank by 2 large locking rings...unplug, unscrew & replace...maybe 15 minutes each...

fuel filter/regulator
with car on lift (actually this can be done on jack stands)
remove cladding & shield 5 minutes
remove filter clamp 1 minute
remove hoses, quick release fittings, very easy maybe <10 minutes
remove regulator block from filter, remove regulator from block <5 minutes
install new regulator onto block, screw filter into block (don't forget the crush washer) <5 minutes
reassemble 10 minutes

do it outside or in a well ventilated area
make sure your gas tank is <1/2 full
wrap rags around the fuel filter connections as you disconnect them (sops up the fuel)
make sure all vapors have disapated before reconnecting the battery

I just looked up the labor rates on my BMW KSD
1 fru = 5 minutes

filter & regulator togther 11

without draining tank (just make sure it's <1/2 full)
sensor 4
pump 7

110 minutes total < 2 hrs, and mechanics always beat these numbers on routine procedures...
