Exclamation Power steering pump is leaking....check out pic!

Well i discovered this by accident, when i took off the plastic shroud under the engine, and noticed fluid all over the place. At first i wasn't sure if the oil cooler hoses were leaking because they were saturated. So i cleaned everything off and drove the car for a day, and then noticed a slow drip from the bottom of the power steering pump. As you can see from the pic it's dripping on the oil cooler hoses in two areas i believe (see red arrows).

I can't clearly see where it is leaking from, it appears to be leaking from the case itself. Has anyone experienced this, and would this be covered by the 6/100 mi warranty?

any thoughts?????

BTW my car is an 02 w/ 57K miles, no warranty.

Default

the extended engine warranty will not cover the ps pump. its not a terribly expensive part to replace though. usually its the high pressure hose that goes first. might be the case in your situation as well as that fluid could go anywhere. just take the car to a reputable independent bmw mechanic and you will save some moola. if you were in LA, i could recommend a great place. maybe someone here knows a great shop in San Diego. good luck.
