my battery was fully charged when replacing the alternator.... now 3 days later im beat because my battery light has come on.. and once again i gotta replace an alternator... this blows and it should not happen on a bmw m3 or any bmw period. especialy if u have to continue to replace em. totally unacceptable.

The original alternator went out at about 70k miles. The first Bosch reman alternator died a week from installation with 1k miles in august last year. The second one died beginning of june on a hot day after about 12k miles. The third one flashed the battery light a day after installing, then finally went kaput maybe 2 weeks later. Meaning the battery light consistently comes on and off according to rpm range and stays on when driving.

The battery has been tested multiple times by auto store and checked good and charged every time so it cant be my battery.

The light has been coming on only at 6k+ rpm or on powershifts, Im also sometimes hearing a small squeak coming from either the belt or alt. My guess is a slipping belt. Input?

or the tensioner is going bad, or the tensioner pulley might fail.

Wow the mechanics in that dealer really suck... easy fix replace the alternator and ur done. You can easily do it yourself.

Make sure you take out the battery and charge it properly! Or you will be causing undue grief to your new alternator unit.
