This question is asked all the time...so let's go ahead and throw some numbers, ages, and locations down once and for all.
I am 21 and have 1 ticket on my record from 4 years ago. I am with Geico and I am a preferred customer (which is hilarious). I'm currently insured in Ithaca, NY which is pretty much farmland and 2 colleges...insurance doesn't get too much cheaper than here. I pay about 2400/yr for Full coverage...with large large liabilities. like 500k/wreck and 250 per person...or maybe the other way around...whatever it is, I have about as good a policy as I can get (for my parents sake, they pay it). If I lived in Houston, they said my insurance would have been closer to 3500-4000 a year. M3's are some of the most expensive cars on the road to insure whether you buy new or used. They all have to use the same uber-expensive German parts, so there is almost no price different in insurance between a 2004 and a 99. For reference, I could have insured the following cars for this much money. Again, all Ithaca, NY insurance. 2001-2003 M3- 2450 99 M3- 2400 99 Porsche 911- ~2100 I think...it was lower than the M3 2001 S4- 1800 2001 330ci or 330i - 1600 2003 G35 Sdn - 1500

23 years old, live in sterling heights michigan, kind of industrial suburby, if that makes any sense. Have one ticket for ten over from a year or two ago, I think. Car is insured as a second PLEASURE Vehicle, I pay about 1400 a year, which I figure aint too bad. That's my 2 cents.

45, married, clean record, living 35 miles West of Philly. I pay $869 a year with Liberty Mutual. I have $1K deductibles, 100/300 coverage for liability, uninsured & under-insured. I opted for limited-tort which we have in PA. I was with AIG who upped my annual fee when I bought the M3 to $1700 for the same coverage. I went shopping online at www.comparisonmarket.com and found my current policy. Shop around, you may find a winner like I did. Good luck.

I've received excellent quotes from both Progressive and Esurance(around $130/month in Colorado). Don't have a M3 yet, but I talked to reps from these agencies and they confirmed the quotes. Hopefully the good rates will still be there when I get my M.
