Default DSC off = Death Mode ?

This is obviously in regards to DSC being OFF. Now I've had bad experiences with traction control off in a 350z, racing on a windy road with it is just too scary as it always loses traction and always having to catch it again (road was closed no innocent bystanders). I even did a F+ drift by accident just doing a normal no brake turn and almost falling into a ditch lol. Back to the main topic, now that I have shown you some bad experiences with traction control off I want to know how bad it is to have DSC off on the M3. Today I went about 30mph on a wide turn inwhich the tail whipped out... I could only image what would have happened if I had DSC off (probably woulda gone to the other lanelol) I've turned off DSC once to see the true power of my car in a straight line of course and man i thought it was pretty quick. Soooo what can i expect when I have DSC off when driving normal and aggressive.

So far this is what I know.
-Light foot on the pedal when starting off a stop (when not racing just not above 2.225 RPM)
-Making fast turn: let off the gas when turning/slow down or stop when necessary

I just want to be properly driving the car with DSC off in normal and aggressive driving conditions. I know its dangerous to have traction control off but I also know there are lots of cars out there that do not even have traction control. But IMHO these cars were meant to have traction control off.

No, don't put the car in neutral and let off the gas when turning!!!!! When you let off the throttle the weight transfers to the front end... same thing happens when you hit the brakes... this robs traction from the rear and makes it more likely that the rear will come around especially if you're going fast.

I think you should go to an autocross or driver's school (trackday, HPDE, etc.) and get some seat time to learn how the car behaves at the limit.

DSC off is NOT death mode given an experienced driver that understands driving technique.

LEAVE IT ON until you get more experience driving...

You must be a capable driver. I know an 18 year old kid that was killed because he did not know how to drive this car with the DSC turned off...

I don't think turning off DSC caused him to die, I think not knowing how to drive caused him to die. DSC is only a safety net that tries to help you from crashing... it's no substitute for being prudent because it can't defy the laws of physics, only manipulate the car's brakes and throttle to bring you back in line. That said it helps you keep such a powerful car under control without being ultra skilled at driving.

oh yeah are there two traction control modes on this car? I see two of them the other one is some button to the right. I'll go check right now one sec.

No there are not two traction control modes on a non-ZCP M3 (and those started in '05). DSC is on or off.

I drive with DSC off all the time when I'm in the dry, but I know my cars limits and what it can and can do. At first I drove with it on until I got used to the car and now I leave it off. As the others said, you need to be a capable driver familiar with the M3.
