Do any of you guys use put your DSC half mode on your cars and if so, do you know if it turns off the stability control portion of DSC?

Half mode allows you to turn off the "power reduction" portion of the DSC. I believe it was initially intended for winter driving.

To enable this mode:

1. Press and hold the dsc button, the DSC off warning light will come on.
2. Hold the button in for approx. 10 seconds, the DSC warning light will
turn off.

You are now in half mode. Your ABS will function normally to help control wheel spin but engine power reduction will be off.

I forgot to mention that when you shut off your car, it will revert back to full mode automatically.

I don't believe it is series specific. From what I have read, to was put there specifically to help keep a driver from getting stuck in the middle of a snow covered hill. If you had to start from a dead stop in this situation, the combination of ABS braking and power reduction could render the car unable to move forward.

Does mean that you tried it and it didn't work? Push in your DSC button and hold it for as long as it take for the dash light to go out. I have done this on my car, an 04 M3 by the way, and the light eventaully goes out.

The article I saw was from a buliten / newspaper circulated by either BMWCCA or BavAuto. I read it a few tears ago and regretably I'm not sure which.
