THIS IS FAIR WARNING. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH STREET RACING..DON'T READ THIS!!
For those that don't mind. I just waxed an EVO. ![]() I went up to the nearby 7-11 to pick up some Ben & Jerry's and there were two guys in a black EVO getting gas. They were both staring at the M when I pulled in. I was in line for a quite a while and when I finally walked outside I noticed that the EVO was sitting next to the air/vacuum station with both guys inside the car. I got in the M and pulled out of the parking lot while I was watching the EVO in my mirror. As soon as I got to the road, they pulled in behind me (no surprise there). I knew they wanted run so I turned DSC off and went to S-6. I took a right to get on the freeway and of course, they followed suit. Once on the freeway I immediately pulled over to the HOV lane and slowed down to around 30 mph. The EVO came up beside me and I started to roll my window down to tell him we would go on 3 honks...but before I get it all the way down he jumps on it! Oh well, down shifted to 2nd, brought it up to 3rd, then 4th, and passed him pretty quickly at around 100 MPH or so. I slowed down and finished rolling my window down and he says he wants to go again since he missed 4th. I told him he got the jump on me already but I'd be happy to go again. This time I make sure he understands 3 honks means go...no sooner. Downshift to 2nd, three honks..and we go. It really wasn't even close this time. I had him from the second I mashed the pedal. I finally slowed down at around 110MPH since he was far enough behind that I figured I'd made my point...and guess what? Yep, r-i-c-e-r fly-by. ![]() I took the next exit and came home. That's 21 wins out of 23 races (most at the track). ![]()

Damn Fine! Can't wait to have a chance myself. I know I don't have as many mods on my M, but it should be fun. They definately slow down at a 100mph.
Just as a note... You know how long it takes for those poor little 4 bangers to spool up? Even holding the revs up, it still takes a considerable amount of time for the waste-gate to close and start producing boost. That's why you had the advantage after the 3 honks and why he wanted to get the jump on you the time before. Got to love the NA 333hp of the M! |

Thank you for serving your civil duty to society (no sarcasm).
Which two cars have you lost to? Let me guess... 996TT was one of them? |

I lost to a stock '03 Cobra at the track when I was stock (I beat one with my mods later on), and got completely demolished by a supercharged Z06 with 600 RWHP. It was just cool watching his car run a high 10 with street tires.

Nice Kill
It really was no contest....even my 350Z can take an EVO from a roll no problem. The only chance he would have against you is from a dead stop. With a great driver from a stop he has a chance to take you all the may up to about 70mph. But once you kick it into 3rd.....bye bye EVO! |
