Default DFW ///M Club = Big Bend Open Road Race April 2008

Every year a 60 mile stretch of highway in West Texas is closed to the public and open to high speed adrenaline junkies (like me). Several members of our local DFW ///M club are planning to make the (approx) 500 mile trek to the event this April. The opportunity to (legally) cruise at 100+ mph for 60 miles x 2 (race is A to B then B to A) for a total of 120 miles is hard to resist. Here's a link to the official website http://www.bborr.com/

This seems like a really bad idea given the fact that most drivers have more guts than ability.

I'm in...this will be my 6th time. Get your applications in ASAP. They stop accepting applications at 150 cars. Also, anyone who hasn't done this before has to go through the rookie school so keep that in mind.
I'm going down a week early to go to Big Bend NP for a few days with my dad/navigator.
Make reservations at the hotel of your choice ASAP. The Best Western Swiss Clock Inn is the host hotel like in the past.

I had been wanting to do that for some time now. I could never find a copilot to take with me. I really want to go and watch the fastest mile race they have in that area too!!

Let me know if some of you guys go down. I wouldn't mind making the drive to spectate!

Chuck what division/class are you going to do? It looks like I'll be in the GT(3) division since this is my first time at their event.

I'm going to do the GT2 (120mph target/140mph tech). I want to make sure I can maintain my target speed of 120mph on this road. 63 curves in 59 miles (one way) is a challenge for me. Hitting a canyon wall at over 100 could hurt a bit.
Let me know if you need any help with the application.

Chuck

Let me find out and I'll PM you. I just heard that it was through some of the SVT Club members.

If you missed the meet this morning Chuck gave us all a rundown of the Big Bend Event. This is not to be missed (if possible)

My wife will be delivering our daughter in a few weeks so I am (unfortunately) questionable for the race at the moment. If you miss the April event there's another one in October.
