I think they are probably pictures of him at an auto-x. Snap transitions provide much more momentum to get the car out of shape. There is a rebound effect that exceeds the forces a car would see with just the corner forces working on it. But like I said, it was just an observation, and if others think it looks okay, it likely is. I've just never seen an M3 look like that at the track. Other cars, yes, just not M3s.

Ok good to know. The car is going to the dealer tomorrow to fix the sun roof shade they broke during the cars last visit to the dealer. I will have them take a look at the suspension to see if it is a little worn.

The excessive body roll can be also due to not being as smooth; jerky movements when trying to hit an apex; and perhaps understeer when taking too much speed in a corner.

I have same/similar pics from my autox-es with that "holy body roll"

Get sways to get you started...
I have UUC set and I love them, but of course there are other brands as well.

I have not not coilovers yet, but the sways along with a 265s on the front made it a different car...

I have my first track this Sunday (March 16th), can't wait...

Good Luck!

HOD runs great DE's......David knows his stuff!! I also really like thunderhill...great track with plenty of run off if things go bad....I've also seen plenty of dirt in 3-4...lots of cars get in trouble with the off camber section....

15 can be scary too if your too hot on the throttle....if you loose it there and over correct....your gonna get sucked into the pit lane wall....& thats NOT GOOD.....I always remember at thunderhill...if you go off..GO OFF...its easier to pick dirt out of your car then scrape it off the inside wall!!

Last time I was at TH I managed to get completely sideways in 6 at about 80mph.....WOW that really woke me up...car was light there all day, turned out the alignment was bad....

I believe I was being as smooth as can be in that turn. I actually was complimented by the instructor for that feature.

That picture with the excessive body roll was taken at turn 2 in THill and if any of you know that track its a very long u-turn type turn where you can carry a good amount of speed. The instructor mentioned that I was beginning to reach the limit of grip in that turn, so I believe I was pushing it about as hard as I could.

the limit of adhesion is probably it then; the softer springs in general don't keep the car as planted in turns, thus reducing the adhesion / contact patch. Adjustable sways or bigger sways can be a tuning device to make the springs act as stiffer springs; of course you can always get stiffer springs.
