Default E92 track wheels-tires???

I plan on tracking my new M3 coupe quite a bit..... I was thinking about getting a set of stock 18" rims from someone who upgraded & put some track rubber on them....I figure I could go to a 255 front tire and a 275 or 285 rear tire.....

What is the widest tire that will fit on the stock 18" rims without rubbing?

Of course a full custom wheelset like from CCW is the ideal solution....maybe 9" fronts with 10" rears? Does anyone know what will fit without fender rolling or rubbing?

For a car with the weight of the new M3 I would like to run a 275 front and possible 305-315 rear...but it doesn't look like they would fit?

You are likely heading into unchartered territory as E92 M3s are only recently starting to be delivered to customers. This summer should provide you with a wealth of information as customers get them out on the track for the first time. I would assume the M3 fenders can accommodate a larger tire than the 335, but this should at least give you a starting place. Ideally you would like to run a square setup to attempt to neutralize any understeer and oversteer. CCW wheels are heavy and expensive for track wheels!

Give the TireRack a call, they may actually know already what plus sizes will fit. If you're looking for a dual street/track tire, I would highly recommend the Potenza RE-01Rs. Astounding tire that can be daily driven. +1 on the square setup.

Really? Are you talking about their 3-piece wheels? They seem pretty popular amongst dedicated track junkies. As for their 1-piece forged wheels, they're very light and strong for their size, and are half the price of other custom wheels such as Fikse, HRE, or Neez.

I did look on tirerack.....it seems there are several choices in 18" rims under 20lbs each......some are quite cheap too at $2-300 each..... The CCW's are WAY more $$$, but also are near 20lbs each....

Interesting about a balanced tire setup.....on my 928 I run WAY wider rear tires....most of the 928 racer-track guys do too...& the weight distribution on 928's is also 50-50 like the M3....but 150lbs lighter..... A typical setup is 275 fronts with 315 rears.....
