Now if you're talking about LED bulbs installed in the backup light housing, there may be a slight decrease in lumen. I tried an eBay version and didn't like them so I tossed them out and replaced them with a set from Sylvania.

i think we have a winner... my back up light, the two tiny rectangles that are on the trunk, is WHITE... and looks very weak in terms of lumen... do you have the part number for the sylvania?

I'd be willing to bet the M3 isn't "extra sensitive", but rather the parts are a bit inconsistent. You get what you pay for. The circuit boards could be sketchy quality, LEDs could be variable resistance, etc.

Personally--I'm going to get the OEM kit from Tischer for $450. OEM parts versus something made in who-knows-where SE Asia, no thanks.
