Is there anything else I should do? I was thinking that the safest thing is to just do an LS* swap and sell the s52 on ebay.

X3 ^^.

What is this oil pump nut issue? This is the first time I've heard of it. My car is 104K now so I assume if I had an issue I would have known it by now? I would still like to check it out.

The oil pump nut on these engines is prone to spinning off without warning; the common thought is that it can happen to anyone, any time, anywhere, no matter the RPMs or how the car has been driven throughout its life (though there are certainly things that don't help). However, I was curious to see if there are any cars that seem more susceptible than others.

PS- The nut is on the end of the oil pump shaft, which holds the chain-driven sprocket in place: it is accessed via the oil pan, & subsequently you must remove a lot of other things (steering rack, cross brace, front subframe...), which is why even people who are aware of the problem tend to neglect it. When that nut comes off, though, you will lose oil pressure and your engine will essentially be turning without lubrication until you shut it down.

Dood you are helpful as always. It is probably prudent to install an oil pressure gauge, huh?
