i would never attempt this DIY if i use my sunroof on a daily bases. like beach bum said, i too never use the sunroof and my helmet some time get in the way. $350 to get rid of the heavy sunroof is great price but require some elbow grease. hope my DIY will lessen your guess work.

the roof bow is in place as shown below even after removing the sunroof. it is part of the roof assembly. the car is as rock sold as before and feels even stronger structurally after removing the sunroof. i have done track event at Infinion, slalom and also drift the car on skidpad after removing the sunroof without a hint of body quiver. matter of fact, it feels stronger and lighter through turns than ever before

the Permatex silicon seal is super strong yet flexible so chance of water leak will be minimal

You have ZERO roof support at the B-pillar - the roof sheetmetal can be bent with 3 fingers, and the sunroof frame acted as the 'brace' across the middle (B-pillar) of the car. A factory non-sunroof car has this steel brace connecting the B-pillars:

Those of us that did the CF roof swap have welded this brace in as pictured. Here is what 'roof bow' you have now as the roof itself 'braces' nothing:

It's your car and your brain if it rolls.....

i have to agree with kellcats521. the oem metal roof (with sunroof) had metal supports to strengthen the roof. but those supports only work well with the sunroof in place. but now that you dont have a sunroof, the supports will not work as well. at this point you can probably try to weld in a B pillar... but if you do that, you might as well get a CF roof.

hey Fern, i can see where you guys are coming from. if you look closely at the picture below you can see reinforced steel structure all the way around the opening of the sunroof which act as a roof brace. matter of fact this is what the sunroof assembly use to bolt on to the roof - it has to be strong enough to hold 33 lbs of sunroof on top of acting as a roof bow. you can't bend this area even with your fist but you can easily bend the metal behind the sunroof opening.

the sunroof assembly will not prevent the roof from collapsing if your car roll over. only a properly made roll cage can prevent roof from caving in. the sunroof assembly is not a structural piece. it is made out out plastic and bolt on to the reinforced steel structure around the opening of the sunroof. if it was a structural piece, it would have bolt directly to the A and B pillars. the whole car feel just as solid now if not better

I love food so much. Taco bell, pizza, quesadillas, hot pockets, cola, the list goes on. I am addicted to food, I eat when I'm not hungry because I crave the taste of it. I have asked for the strength to resist these temptations but to no avail. It seems hopeless that I will ever be average weight. I dont' need weight loss advice per se...I need ways to become strong enough to resist my strongest temptations...any suggestions?
hey man... it isn't a matter of being stronger, you have to find out why you are doing it and fix / change that.. there is a reason why you are eating non-stop...
