Default Houston BMW dealer won't do a PPI?

I stopped by momentum BMW today to see how much a pre purchase inspection would cost and the guy (looked like a manager) told me that the only ispections they do is routine maintenance/service inspections (oil change, etc, etc). He told me that they wont do pre purchase inspections period and that he did not know of any other dealer in houston that would do one! I'm looking to buy a used m3 in the next couple of months but I was hopping to get a BMW dealer inspect it, what can I do? any thoughts?

That's total BS!!! I've purchased 2 bmw's from Momentum and they were fine with a PPI. I told them there was no way in hell I was buying a used car without one. Of course you'll have to pony up the $$ for it. It shouldn't be more than $150. You should take it TX German Autohaus.

you said you bought your cars FROM them? I am planing on purchasing a car from a private seller. I just want to bring the car before i buy it and have them inspect it.

i don't think they'll do that if you purchase from private seller....

its actually up to the dealership....but if i were momentum...i wouldn't do it....not if you're purchasing from a private seller....it opens them up to liability, when right now, they have none as is.

yes, most dealers in my area (so cal at the time) either efused to do a ppi for a private party sale or wanted some ridiculous amount of money. i got it from a private bmw mechanic referred by someone from this board...

I had the same experience...

I went to Momentum BMW in Houston in early July and asked to have a PPI done on a car for sale at another dealership and they refused.

But...

I bought it anyway, and I love my car!

If I were that dealership - I'd do the same. Too little money for too much potential liability.

I can't say that I blame them. As others have said, it's a huge liability risk. They simply don't want to be involved in a private party because they'll only be getting a measily $150 for a PPI with all of the liability. The only way I could see them doing it for a private party is to form a written agreement that you couldn't come back to the dealer after the fact if any problems arose, but I doubt they would want to go through the trouble for just $150. Dealerships make a much higher profit margin on used cars which is why it's worth it for them to PPI every used car that leaves their lot.
