LOL. I own both the 19s and 18s (snows on the 18s and summers on the 19s). The 18s always look dirty to me and I much prefer the look of the 19s. To each his own, for sure.

Were you being sarcastic about living in SoCal? From the Valley, to LA Proper, to even Beverly Hills...I don't think I've ever known anyone who said that the roads are generally good. Even when I went to school at UCSD in La Jolla I ran into crap roads.

BTW...I like the 18s because of the ride and look. They match the SG perfectly.

I also like the 18's. The 19's don't look good at all.

I think the 19's make the car look more aggressive. I was riding next to a white M3 on Sturrow Drive in Boston the other day with 19's and they looked really good while they were spinning with the sun hitting them.

The dirty grey 18's always looked like plastic to me, but in reality they probably perform better because they provide less unsprung weight.

Is it just me or do the 19s look like the old 19s? That was most of th reason why I didnt get the 19s. Now that I have th 18s but will most likely before the summer get some 19s. i loved my LM's on my e46. not sure what ill get for this car......

I agree completely. I think the 18s look like they should be on a Subaru WRX or something. They also look like they are always dirty. I have had 19s on both my E46 and E90. I don't find the ride too harsh, but the roads here in the Milwaukee area are horrid after the winter. I have to drive like an obstacle course to avoid potholes. Then again, I would do the same with the 18s.

One thing I don't get is when people say they got the 18s for winter driving. If you can afford an M3, why not just buy winter wheels for crappy driving. That is what I did and my car is fine in the snow.

Lots of people "take-off" the 18s when they first get the car, so they can be found on this forum (often with tires) for a bargain. I paid $1800 for wheels and tires, then had Pirelli snows mounted for the winters. My 19s are in storage, along with the extra 18" tires that I'll use for autocross and/or track.

Tire Rack has some great winter tire/wheel deals and I would have done that if I hadn't run across two take-off deals on this forum. I like having the stock wheels as a winter wheel.

I briefly considered buying 19" snows to mount on my 19s, but the very limited tire selection moved me to 18s.

Good idea. I just put a wanted ad on the forum for 18s for my snow tires. I got the A7s from Tirerack and think they look cheesy.

I also own both the 19s and the 18s (all-seasons on the 18s for what passes for winter here, and summers on the 19s), and I agree with you - the 19s look much better.
