A perfect example of why you should only pay using your creditcard or paypal buyers credit service (GE Money Bank, not paypal owned) when using paypal...

You could have simply processed a chargeback against paypal and been refunded by your creditcard company...

ah, so it's ok to get ripped off for $500, just nothing more. So crooks will roam the eUniverse ripping people off $500 at a time knowing they will never be brought up on trial. aaah, that sucks

Small claims WILL here the case. That's exactly what small claims is for, hence the name "small claims". Small claims, at least in Iowa, won't here anything over $5000. I would bet that most small claim cases are between the $500 and $1000 mark. Its usually for unpaid rent, small business bills, etc. However, if its small claims, he didn't even need an attorney for it. Small claims cases are handled in a very open forum. The judge knows most of the cases are done by the complaintant himself, and is usually most accomadating. I stress the Usually though.
