Default Need help from wiring gurus....

I'd like to hardwire my radar detector. I opened up the casing behind our rear view mirror, which I believe has the light sensor (correct me if I'm wrong).

1. Will that red wire be constant power? Or will it just be on when I turn on the car? I've always wired my radar detectors to only be on when the car is on.
2. If that red wire is indeed constant, which of the other five wires (brown, white, blue/yellow, blue, brown/black) should I tap into?
3. Where should I tap my other wire from the radar detector?

TIA

--Jem

I think that you need to buy a multimeter. If you don't know how to use it, or even if you don't know what it is, then you will end up messing up your car.

This is what I did and it was very easy, especially the wiring.

I do have one. I just didn't wanna dig for it. Anyways, the "red" wire is not constant. This is what I used. The "blue yellow" and the "blue" are constant.

Thanks. Somehow the E93 above-lighting console is different from the pictures.
