Default Under Drive Pulleys

I own a 98 M3 4/5

As of now the car has
* debaffled Air box / K&N filter
* ANSA cat back

Just wondering for the next mod which will run me like 300 for either ?
Which will give me more power?? ECIS Intake or TMS Under Drive pulleys??

help me on my next mod

Thanx

intake, no pulleys imo.

But really spend money on suspension and be happy with the power it has. The hp gain per dollar sucks for these cars for little bolt on mods.

Are there any hp gains at all? with pulleys?

The reason I was leaning toward the pulleys is because I have the debaffled box + K&N in there already so I figured I already have maybe 2-3 hp more than stock as it is with the current intake. Opposed to maybe gaining 5-6 hp with pulleys ?? I have 3 cars, just trying to make the best use of 300 bucks. **** or should I hold & get the Conforti ECU ?

thats why i'm looking for some guidane dyno results from previous owners??

For $300 I would the M50 manifold instead of the pulleys.

Just FYI, the K&N (and any other similar drop in) actually filter worse than stock paper, and de-baffling is maybe good for 1hp, so you're probably about even

Second, for $300 it's M50, handsdown. A CAI will run you more and yield little to no power (although it will sound good--but you can just pull your snorkle). The M50 is pretty much proven power, and $300 will get you a new manifold and kit.

If you are set on intake or pulleys, pulleys give more power than intake just FYI. But you better do the M50 first

Personally, I wouldn't waste money on pulleys. You underdrive accessories that are expensive to replace, and mess with the engineering behind the belt routing and tensioning...for pretty much no real gains in power.

M50 is a love it or leave it type thing. It does add power overall. But it shifts the powerband more than really adding more power. You *do* loose a noticeable amount of torque. The car is faster when you're revving the piss out of it. But, personally, I love the low and midrange kick it has when skooting around town with it (yeah, I just used the verb "skoot")

People get caught up in spending tons of money to make the car just a little bit faster. IMO, you're best off spending money on suspension mods, or refreshing parts in the car that will make it drive like new (bushings, for instance). You get quickly desensitized to the small affects of go fast mods, whereas a good suspension setup and bushing refresh will make the car extremely enjoyable to drive.

I believe it might be 'scoot'

Agreed with everything else Nick said, might as well take your $300 and put it towards maintenance or bushings or something

I hear what you guys are telling me.. as far as suspension & maintaince. Reality is the car really does not need anything that I know ?

New Bilsteins all round
OEM plugs, Fuel Filter + Redline drivetrain fuilds
Full OEM brakes all round
I did this when I bought the car.

The reason I'm in search of some hp is because I had a little run in with a buddy of mine and his 08' 4dr Civic SI he has I/H/E + K po ECU and lets just say the m3 did not take any victory that night so I'm kinda of upset that a 2.0 liter with bolt ons can bang with an M 3 .

Thanks

My advice is get used to that, buy a different car (I know you don't want to ), or get ready to spend $3k on cams if you want any power, or at least $4k on F/I.

Full bolt ons minus cams can get you up to maybe 270 at the crank, with cams you can see 300+, but you are talking about $4k easy with every bolton. Go F/I, or if spending $4k to make your 10-year-old car a little faster and more competitive doesn't make sense.... I got nothing
