Default Transmission 5th gear/reverse detent fix with TIS

I have been looking into doing the 5th gear/reverse detent fix, and have sourced the TIS information for the work.

I'm having issues finding all the correct part #'s, as they are not all included on the TIS for BOTH fixes.

I'm also looking for any help on the part numbers for the 3 special tools to pull the bearings, and insert the sealing cap. On the TIS, the part numbers show as 23 4 021, 23 4 022, 23 4 023.

I could not attach the .pdf as an attachment, but if anyone could help, or would like to see it, PM your email, and I will email you the files.

Also included is the transmission split view from realoem, here.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...29&hg=23&fg=15

I'm pretty sure the part numbers required for the two fixes are going to be #9, 10, 11, 12 for one of them, and then #9, 10, 13, 14 for the other one. I had also thought about just doing all three, and including #9, 10, 15, 16

Any help into this issue is GREATLY appreciated

What gear are parts 9, 10, 15, and 16 for? Those are not usually part of the lazy 5th problem, but you're going to go ahead and change them? Is that what you're saying?

9, 10, 15, 16 are for 1st gear

If I'm doing the other two, I'm going to do all three, as well as the shifter pin fix.. which is replacing 25 and then kit 28 on all 3 locations

I might of found someone to get all 5 drift tools as well. I will let you know if he has any more kits if you would like..

The repair kits for the 5th gear and reverse detents:
23117542726

Buy at least three kits. It is quite likely your will destroy a bushing the first time you attempt to install it. 3 kits will give you some extra parts in case you mess something up.

When you remove the springs for 5th gear and reverse, make sure you separate them and mark which one is which. If you don't, it will require way to much effort to put the shifter into 5th and it will be way to easy to slip the shifter into reverse.

I just bought all 5 drift tools required to do ALL the tranny fixes, including the shifter pin fixes. Once BFC comes back online, I will post link to the custom made drift tools...

I'm assuming this kit does NOT include parts 12, 14, and 16. Is that correct?

Is a 6-speed ever in your plans?
