Default 335d torque figure?

So i'm looking at the new bmw 335d (for diesel) on the bmwusa website and they list the power and torque as:
Nominal output hp/rpm 265hp/4200rpm
Max. torque lb-ft/rpm 425/1750-2250

question is: why is the max torque given in a range(1750-2250)? Is it variable depending on the temperature? usually you list max torque at the first available RPM. Thank you come again, in advance.

Default

I believe they mean peak torque is made and maintained through that RPM range.
