Default Data Acquisition

Anyone here have any experience with the G-Tech Pro RR, and if so, how does it compare to a full-blown $1000 Traqmate?

I'm trying to get fairly accurate lap times, including a decent G-G graph.

Check out this company there stuff is accurate within inches through GPS. G-Force is built in and has true synchronized video and exact track mapping. The predictive timing lets you know how much faster or slower you at a 20 points around the track compared to your fastest lap. I dropped 2 secs off my fastest time at Buttonwillow with this unit. Also, unlike other companies it has a sunlight readable touchscreen, which is vivid and precise. I haven't used a better system.

Honestly, save your money. Your a$$ should tell you everything you need to know around a race track. Sure it is nice to know predictive laps and when you try different things if they are working or not but in the end, the system itself is really not going to make you any faster. If you just want it for a toy, go for it. But if you are really looking to just become faster, nothing beats spending that money on additional seat time.

I bought a GTech Pro RR and used it twice. I think I learned more from video taping my laps. Having said that, if you want to buy my GTech, lemme know

Included software is mediocre. AFAIK there is no consistent way to determine laptimes -- you need to estimate by looking at the g-force patterns.

FYI: you can't use the cigarette lighter, as the M3's electrical system is too clean and the GTech won't be able to pick up engine RPM. Instead, you will need to wire it directly to the battery. This is a known "issue."

Yeah Nick...kinda more of a toy actually. I'll have more seat time this season than I know what to do with. And if possible I am most interested in looking at and analyzing the G-G graph.

Elbert - how much??

Also curious how much. Tried to PM, but either I can't send them, or you can't receive them...

Get the traqmate if you want a real full blown DAS, or an AIM MXL Pista if you are looking for the real deal (almost pro quality system).

G-tech is for performance data. Traqmate is for improving your driving.... as are the AIM systems... but you need to learn how to read and interpret data traces to really benefit from them.
