Default Finally joined the club!

After ages of searching, and researching, I finally got an M and could not be happier. First, let me tell anyone that is interrested in an M, dont be afraid to buy out of state. I found this M and did major research and background history before jumping on it and was nervous the entire time I waited for it but received it in great condition and i'm very happy with it.

Car has a much preferred color combo. It does have 2 cosmetic issues which I will work on later. Yellow sidemarker on driver side has a small piece broken on it and the driver side arm rest has some scuffs. Other then that, car looks great, even though its been on an 18 wheeler for a few days.

As far as the M3 goes, I took it for some spins and tested a few in the past. This car is a lot of fun. Great response, the steering wheel just feels very responsive. I can understand why people love taking this car autocrossing. SMG was easy to learn since i've driven manual all my life but still have issues starting the car lol. But shifting is smooth, even smoother than manual IMO. Because of the stupid gap between shifts, I do get concerned with putting too much throttle between shifts when I'm cruising but I feel myself getting better after every block of driving. The ability to shift makes the car still feel like manual. If I had to choose again, I dont know which way I would go, I love both smg and manual, its just a question of which car is giving me a better deal price wise. I do hate the gap between shifts so started in S4, and will be using s5 for daily driving.

I do have some concerns. Everytime I get out the car, even if I didnt go hard (atleast didnt think I went hard), I smell tires. I have stock continentals with a lot of beef. I'm pretty sure I have DSC on. Maybe I just have to learn how to control RWD better (everything else I had was FWD).
I also see an issue with my idle when I first start car, especially if heat or A/C is on. I can more hear it rather than see it on the rpm's. Sounds like car is slowly increasing/decreasing idle slightly. This generally lasts maybe 10 seconds then car is normal again. I know a/c can affect idle or increase it a little but this looks a little different from that, maybe its an M thing. I'll test again but i'm sure I seen this happening.

Anyway, onto the fun part, here are some pics of the car, not clean but finally in my possession BTW, tints will be coming off for legal reasons...

congrats on the purchase.....great color combo, i have cinnamon in mine too and LOVE it. As far as your idling issue, it is pretty common with these cars.

enjoy it (im sure you will), and watch out for the mod bug -- its been known to bite hard lol

Regarding your idling issue -- you may just need to clean your MAF sensor.

First of all, congrats, and welcome. Gorgeous color. I have CB/Cinn, and absolutely love the Cinn interior. It grows on me every day, and I've had the car for 2 years.

The delay is really a factor of rev matching. The computer does a pretty poor job of rev matching. If you do it yourself, you'll find you can shift VERY fast. Also, shift speed is heavily dependent on both throttle position and revs. The higher your revs and the more aggressive you are with the gas pedal, the faster it will shift. The shift speed settings (S1-6) obviously have an effect, but frankly I find my driving style has more effect.

I think this is completely normal in the M. I know mine does it, and I've heard a lot of people talking about it.

I had the same 2004 mystic blue with cinnamon (+ navi/cold weather package)....but it was stolen in july....this car sure brings back memories. Before mine, I have never seen another mystic blue/cinnamon combo.
