Default how often do you have to top off engine oil?

basically, I want to get an idea on how often you get the yellow engine oil light. since not all of us daily drive the M's, I've posted based on miles. any suggestions on a more accurate measure?

I top about about 1/2 liter every 5'000 miles. Not too bad I assume as some motors just consume a bit of oil.

i've also heard that you need to add oil, but i daily drive mine and have never had to to that. i just change oil at the recommended interval.

Never get an oil light.

After heavy track use it may show at the bottom of the dipstick's range; down from middle. But I never use a drop on the street. 7.5k oil changes for 60k miles since new.

Actually, I DID get the oil light once... right after the 1,200 mile break-in service (dealer did it). But none since then.
