Door Handle

I have just recently noticed that my the drivers side door handle has become harder than normal to open, it's a '99 with 51K. At times you have to pull sharply and harder than normal to open it, both inside and out. Also it feels as if something is about to break inside the mechanism. I'm new the E36 is this a common problem? If so whats going on inside the mechanism? Is it clip, or maybe a bent rod, or does it just need lubricated?

Mine was difficult to opertate also. A little oil fixed the problem right up. Lube the door catch, the part the connects to the striker, in the door. That should fix it up. If not, you may need a slight adjustment.

It is common, use some good lithium grease on the mechanism in the door, and on the door catch as noted above.
