Default Center Console is a POS - Wrap it?

What is the deal with the center consoles in our cars?

It seems I scratch it every time I pull the e-brake. How big of POS is this thing?

Anyway...I was going to wrap mine in the CF fabric, but I was already going to wrap the interior trim pieces, so I feel it's going to be too much.

I was thinking about taking the piece to an upholstery shop and have them do it. This may be way expensive and may not match the dash.

Is there any info on this anywhere else? Nothing came up on search.

I also read there is a OEM piece that BMW used to sell. Is this true?

Buy a new one - it's easier to replace than to wrap it.

Available from getbmwparts.com for about $50:

Yes, definitely easier, but won't look as cool and will end up getting scratched again.

Nope, it won't The new consoles BMW makes don't scratch at all, nothing like our old ones, buy new and you won't regret it
