Parlemo..lol We have a house in Monreale and I love driving in Parlemo its a go fu+k your self type of driving city lol. The best are the kamikaze pilots whom make 3 lane changes with their eyes closed across intersections myGAWD. My heart is in sicily but my stomach stays there also after a drive. My cousins are all nutz and I pray for them every night, and they breed aggressive non law abiding driving in most of sicily, and lets not get started about the bikes over there. Too funny I though I was overly sensitive about the driving there, but man was I right. lol

I love driving in Sicily...outside of cities. I even like the kamikasi style in Palermo, but it just doesn't work too well if you don't know your way around. Any beat up Fiat dink can make a fool of you.

On Autostradas and country roads I drive about as fast as I like, just being respectful of other drivers. One time in a village a shiny dunno-what E46 pulls up behind me, could vaguely see in the mirror they were checking out the M3. At the edge of the village I hit it. They tried to keep up but I kept losing them, but then at the next village they'd catch up. Had fun tearing up the countryside for about a half hour. Pulled into a village, stopping at a light, and they pull up next to me, both driver and passenger giving me thumbs up with big grins. Two cops in an unmarked car, turned off to right on green laughing their asses off and disappeared. Gotta like that sense of humor.

...about my favorite road, Trapani up to Erice early morning or evening.

great story that must have been awesome, to me there is no place like the outskirts of sicily, so raw and unchanged.. In my opinion Cefalu is one of the most beautiful places on earth its perfect. One similar story my cousin had picked up a ferrari red alfa coupe about 3 weeks before i visited. When I went to see him he threw me the keys since he knows Im a car freak and when he was here he drove what ever car of mine he wanted. We stayed away from parlemo all together and took a few back roads going north, right behind me pulls up a late 60s black 911 what a sight I will own a 69L one day. I look at my cousin and he gives the look and we are off. The porsche came to play what fun we had, one of the best days of my life. Im in a red alfa playing in the mountains of Sicliy with a classic porsche just Epic. I love these adventures we need more of them in our lives.

This stretch of Autostrada Trapani-Alcamo is particularly fun at the limit, and there are enough roads just in this pic alone to keep you happy a long time. And there is always somebody who wants to play too, and though it may get hairy, nobody gets too serious about it.

...and if you are keeping your eyes open for a cop, you'll find them here.

It's been awhile for me... but it still puts a smile on my face when I think about it.

How about mandatory driving tests for everyone - every 5 years. And death for using ANY cell phone or texting while driving (as long as we're going for wild-ass-not-gonna-happen ideas..) I believe they do that in England also.
Here Here!! I second the motion...

...wait, what did he say? Let me turn up my hearing aid...
