Default Driving the Ring

I am planning on taking a trip in the Spring to the Ring. Does anyone know how to find out what days are available for driving to the general public? Also can you rent cars specific to the ring or would you simply use a normal rental car?

Most rental companies specifically exclude the 'Ring and will ban you from life if they catch you (and many have photographers there to make sure their cars aren't being used there).

Rent-racecar.de and services like it are your best bet.

Scheduling can always be found here:

http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/feel/g...dschleife.html

Touristenfahrten = Tourist Driving

If you have any questions at all don't hesitate to ask, I lived 15 minutes south of the Ring for 3 years. You're going to love it.

The 2010 dates wont be listed yet, and they will change throughout the year... best just checking the main www.nuerburgring.de website for the calender.

As for a normal rental car, theres gorror stories about excessive charges if found to have been used on the 'Ring. I'd speak to Dale @ RSR Rentals and get yourself booked for a bit of tuition and rental of either a Clio 197 or a Megane R26.R.

The 'Ring can bite, and bite hard... I found that out this year, it doesnt have to be anything to do with you, spilt fluids and track debris can lead to (and in my case, did lead to) a nasty accident with huge losses at the end of it. So, make sure you have the best insurance you can find.

Other than that, its a magical place, I love it and visit three or four times a year. It's worth noting that SPA is only a 70 mile drive away so also worth a visit.

Didn't know SPA was that close! I really hope I can visit sometime in the coming year.

Yeh, I never realised it was that close till the other month when we did 3 days at the ring and one at Spa.
