Is it good deal? I know i will rid of that fart can and spoiler. I will try to talk dealer to replace the muffler with oem or aftermarket with no price. Since both are no less than 1000 dollars.

I dont know if i would get it since it may have a irresponsible owner who put stupid fart can and spoiler.
It's been hit from the rear. It's also obviously been owned by someone with exceptionally bad taste. Ground effects?

Anything is worth a look I suppose. But it wouldn't be at the top of my list. Looks like there may be some rust under the trunk as well.

the salesman said that he will inspect the bmw thoroughly tomorrow. He also said there should be no rust at all.

I really hope that he is right. I still might do ppi. I have to talk to my father about ppi.

only trust a salesman as far as you can throw him...they are trying to sell you something, they usually wont tell you anything to make you question buying it!

ALWAYS do a PPI somewhere that has no financial ties to the seller

If we're being realistic, what he says doesn't really have any value to it. He's a salesman.

Believe me man, I was just recently in the market for a 2nd car. I lost count of how many cars were described to me as "Mint, not a scratch on it, no paint work, no dents"...and when I get down to see the car i'm finding overspray, replaced panels, rust, clear coat drips from a shotty paint job, etc.

I wound up driving to Maine to buy a car from a private owner, simply because I was sick of wasting my time being lied to by car salesmen at dealerships.

The only thing I use the salesman for is to find out whether or not the car is still on the lot. You can ask all the questions you want, and they'll just tell you whatever they can to get you on the lot to look at it. That, or they act like you're bothering them, so they have the upper hand when you get down there...making you think you're just one more guy of many that are interested in it.

When you get there, they size you up and decide how to attack the sale. If they think you're clueless, they immediately become an expert on the car and make you feel like any possible flaws you see aren't problems. If they see you know what you're looking at, they immediately become "just the guy that does sales...not a mechanic", and pretend to have no clue about anything wrong with it.

Be polite, and courteous with the guy. But under no circumstances should you believe a single word out of his mouth without further verification of your own.

If your father is familiar with BMWs, this will help out. However, everyone seems to have a Dad, Uncle, Brother-in-law, etc that "knows about cars". To be honest, these cars have some pretty unique quirks that will slip right past someone who's not familiar with the E36 chassis. If you're spending $10K on a car, it's worth the $100 to have a qualified shop take a look at it IMO.
