not too fond of the lipstick though. I think porsche is desperate in this case.

how they compare a race/track dedicated car like the gt3 rs to the gt car like the gtr and complain that the gtr will not hold up after one lap is beyond me. why don't they put the turbo against the gtr because that is exactly the car that the gtr is competing with. let see how many lap the turbo can do without overheating.

You're comparing the track lap quality of a GT-R to the 911 Turbo? Really?

+1...no offense to 1badm3, but its clear you have not driven either of those, because the 911 turbo will absolutely hold up better. the new 911 turbo is a much faster car too. porsche quotes 0-100 in 7 seconds flat! this time is faster than or equal to those posted by cars like the Carrera GT/Enzo/SLR mclaren. even the 997.1 turbo showed a clear advantage over the GTR in straight line speed.

That article is a good one describing this whole 'ring' trend going on now. there is no documented times. no rules, no holds barred, anything goes basically.

Despite the Panamera, I'm impressed how Porsche can take two of their fast cars, the GT3 and TT, and make it better and faster while keeping the weight down. Very impressive.

Awesome time and an awesome car! I would want the stealth paint job, especially the wheels! As for the GT-R not being able to complete one lap at the ring without having tire issues, brakes exploding etc.... yeah right!! Just because the GT-R is faster, cheaper, and made by Nissan does not make it a big pile of donkey doo. The GT-R should not be compared to the GT3, GT3RS or the GT2. It was designed as direct competition to the Turbo, and is a GT car, not a track day special. The fact that it is quicker than the GT3RS is even more impressive because it is not the track model of the GT-R series. That would be the Nismo version which has not been released yet. The new 911 Turbo is clearly faster now with PDK and is a better match for the GT-R around the Ring. Ball is back in Nissan's court, but I still want a GT3RS in my garage!

I guess 40 laps is close enough to one lap right??

http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index....=34550&hl=ring

"Ok let me give You some notices. Thanks to David.Yu from UK I had a chance to spent not one, but two club track days at the Ring. Closed track. Thursday the weather was very bad, rainy in the night, than fog in the day. Later afternoon the track was almost dry, but due to some accidents still no chance to go fast enough. But that day was much better from the social point of view. Met couple of german a UK guys, 11 GT-Rs there. Had a great time and fun. We also made some nice pics in the Nurburgring promedane Nissan shop. /see bellow/

Friday was much better with the weather, bit wet in the morning but perfectly dry after 11am. So I started to push it, but many yellow flags due to accidents, slowed me down. Later in the afternoon I made my best lap of the day... 8:03 and started to be excited to do bellow 8 later. I got Sabine Schmitz to my passenger seat to give me some tips and tricks :-) She is sooo nice and friendly. Made two laps with her at passenger and also one with her as driver my car and me as passenger. In that last lap some Porsche got broken engine and oil leak and let oil in the ideal line through half of the track length :-( from Adenau to Dottingen Hohe... we had to slow down a lot and go out the line.

Just before end of the track day the track was almost fine again, so I made my last laps, but twice I've seen yellow flag due to crash /both right after Karussel/ and I started to be soo tired, made some laps like 8:05, 8:06 etc so decided to stop before something happens.

overall I did more than 20 laps on Thursday and again over 20 on Friday, car worked FANTASTIC, not a single problem, just changed pads. The new R888 Toyos are so much better for track than Bridgestones, the understeer is all gone. Just need to put a LOT od heat to them, what is not easy when the outside temp is bellow 10 C. Drove my car back home more than 400 miles Friday evening, in rain, wet and fog, and still all perfect, not a single problem. What a great car.

So that's it from me, done for this year. For sure I'm not done, still want to do it MUCH faster, well let's see next season."

Those times are just insane. Ive had PLENTY of infights with my mates about the new GT-R.
Yes it is quick, yes it is half the price but the damn upkeep is just insane.
I also agree with having to let them cool, it wouldnt take too long till you had cooked everything.

Money may buy speed but it doesnt buy Speed and Longevity in a sexy hot package....
997 GT3RS GenII FTW.
