As soon as I get my car back, I will. I even have his bank account numbers.

You may have been screwed over, but, show the proof instead of going off with a temper tantrum.

And, showing the proof will give you more credibility verses just going off.

And name the accounts he is using on this site and whether this transaction took place over this site, validating the purpose of this thread.

I have often wondered what the actual recourse would be for someone just completely taking advantage of the system in the marketplace.

I have been ripped off by items in far worse condition than they were photographed.. with no consideration for refund by the seller, but I have never been outright scammed.

What exactly is stopping someone from selling a set of wheels, diff., some other thousand dollar item and just completely not delivering it?

I know you can pursue them through paypal, but paypal has denied several of my claims when I was disputing the condition of the item. When you buy something on the forums it's not like an ebay payment where the money isn't released until a tracking number has been added or a package has been received. As far as they know your just sending money to someone..

Any info is appreciated, I have been using various forums for about 7 years now and haven't encountered this yet, but I am curious.

OP.. post up your info, you'll get something out of it, if nothing more than the complete humiliation of the jacka$$ that scammed you.

There certainly are ways of recourse. I'm a member of an online poker forum, where people are regularly scammed for a lot more than 500$.

If know some personal information about them, then you can gain a lot of leverage. Internet detectives can find out the rest of their info including real name, etc.

In one of the more mainstream cases where someone was scammed for ~30,000$, the guy who was scammed (admo) released personal info of the scammer, and people were doing things like contacting the scammer's mom and all his friends telling them he had scammed etc, also admo made a website with all of scammer's info saying what he had done etc. and made it first result of google (probably screwing scammer out of a ton of employment opportunities in the future). as well as putting pressure on him legally. scammer ended up paying it all back.

Please read our policy here: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/annou....php?f=51&a=56

We do what we can to help protect forum members, however members accept the responsibility of any transactions they enter into. The forum may be used to seek advice and remedy, however may not be used unjustly or abusively, nor will any advocation or threats of violence be tolerated.

MTrejo was banned from this site 11 months ago for unauthorized commercial activity, selling NOS kits. Quite frankly, it is difficult to find much sympathy for those who enter into transactions despite our warnings and precautions, especially those with unauthorized, underground commercial activities.

Please state calmly, clearly and completely what this transaction is all about and perhaps some remedy can be found, however if this thread goes off the deep end, the thread will disappear.
