I've been wanting to do this for a long time and I'm surprised how easy it was. I took a bottle and filled it with hot tap water and mixed in some Woolite detergent. You could probably use anything you want but I've had great luck with Woolite in the past. I took a small brush with bristles similar to a tooth brush and just poured some solution on the brush and brushed away. I wiped off the excess dirty water with a microfiber and did 3 passes on each section. The stitching literally looks like my friend's 08 E90 M3. Just as bright. I'm surprised at the difference it made. I also did the rest of the steering wheel. The stitching before was almost black.
