I had that problem in my '04 and was able to get a new radio unit under warranty. I was very lucky because my original radio did not play MP3 CDs and the new unit does!
It was due to the cold weather. |

Mine used to do that, until I had head unit replaced under warranty.
No problem with the new unit. Maybe TADT, but I'm not sure they should.

I had this happen to be the a few days ago. I was a little annoyed at first but it went away in a minute or two.

Yea this happens in cold weather. A few panasonic double dins display "To Cold to Boot" so you must wait for it to warm up.

It's funny, I've never seen that in my M3. The displays have been sluggish, but never missing elements. Especially not at a wimpy 23F. I wish we were only at 23F up here.
Today's high was -28C (-18F). It's just past 11 pm and the temp is -32C (-26F) and the wind chill makes it feel like -44C (-47F) |

Happened to my M3 the other day when it was 12F outside. After a minute the radio was fine.
