looking good OP. Xylene is a better remover of the residue crap, and then clean everything up with acetone

Xylene can be found at any local Ace Hardware as well as Acetone
MAPP torch is also your friend with the sound deadener

I really need to post a "project winter M3" thread...

a teaser

Wow nice!

Also, just because it is a pet peeve of mine, it is not dampening material. It is damping material. Dampening would imply it gets moist or something. Sorry I know I'm but its a dumb pet peeve.

Enthusiast Auto has been awesome. The price for the car was fair. When I started the tear down, however, I noticed holes in the body (base of the rear seats). I took the car to my car mechanic (John at Just BMW). Turns out the Front Cross-Member for Rear Axle Carrier (that's what it is called) is broken and needed to be replaced. I called Enthusiast Auto to let them know about the structural failure, the $1500 repair bill, and my huge disappointment. After some further discussion between the owners, Enthusiast Auto offered to cover the cost of the repair (Eric, one of the owners, made it clear that he wanted me to be 100% satisfied). That was completely unexpected. Needless to say, I am one completely satisfied customer. They truly have great cars, and greater standards.

The picture is impressive, but I think I like the heat gun better... Goo Gone is also less harmful to the brain than Acetone.
I like your idea of removing the metal sheet from the rear seats. What are you planning to do to your car? What's up with all the dark stuff around the trunk?

black stuff in trunk is from sound deadener spray on from a massive stereo i USED to have in there...

I didnt remove the metal, as it's a coupe with fold down seats, so, that was how it came from the factory.

Planning on tracking/auto-x'ing as I have been doing for the last couple years, just wanted to strip some more weight for next year

Xylene and Acetone while pretty toxic, are AMAZING, and really clean it up all the way down to the white base paint.... I will be doing some sanding, and then repainting the interior as well to clean everything up

Day 3 (but who is counting...). After removing the DAMPING material (thanks for the correction) in the rear seat/window, ditto for the passenger side.
