Now, that is all to say that there is no way I would engineer a product that weighs outside of my target. On this 18 I am aiming for 18+ and 19+ in my worst case scenario.

Our wheels are modeled through FEA and for most wheels that is where the "testing" begins and ends. For RAC wheels, in order to gain our certifications, both JWL and VIA ( the VIA being a self administered directed quality control that the factory has adopted and far exceeds the JWL requirements). Before we will produce this wheel I will be building a sample wheel. That wheel will be subjected to enormous loads and pressures that you could never produce under operating conditions on a car; even a race car. The result is, as you can imagine, overkill . This is not by my choice but is something I totally embrace. This is the protocol I am made to participate in if I want to build form start to finish in this factory and receive their certifications, This program was designed by Champion Motorsport in a participating roll with the factory. You will see Champions insignia stamped on the inside barrel of every wheel and our RAC logo embossed on the rim face.

Makes sense. Sounds like you need to understand the limits of your design and how it'll fail at those limits. Pretty much what i do for a living. Very neat

I dont give a **** about 380, you can put that on there

The stock brakes are fine for me. Once I start out driving the engineering of the vehicle, ill start upgrading **** like that.

shep - thanks so much for the background. Don't get me wrong - I never doubted anything, not at all. Just asking to fill in gaps in what I know about the whole process. I like to know details, what can I say.

Thanks again.

Hope no one is ticked - I took the liberty of tidying up the list:

Participant list:
Green = no need for 380mm brake clearance
Orange = would be nice, not a deal breaker
Red = must have clearance for 380mm brake or no deal

Why should anyone be ticked off. I thought the list was a bit confusing so I added color. The additions to it are all for the better

Default now I am happy.....

had an excellent meeting with Champion, just returned this minute. Re-design is going to be fast; scrapped the double barrel 380 fitment, stressed our weight requirements, took a lot of weight out of the design; elongated and proportioned the spokes exactly; took metal out of the inner 'U' window scallop; tapered the spoke proportionally; it will be perfect if Japan follows all of my notations.

I did get a re-do already so at least they got me to a better starting point. Japan understands our urgency to get this done.

This is my first round of re-do with them after 4 rejections. This is not the final wheel but at least you can see where I am headed with it. ( this is the 10")
