23 over. I wasn't paying attention and was rocking out to some music. 25 or over is the cut off for defensive driving.

I don't know if my insurance would go up much more if I just paid the ticket or not. I guess I could talk to my agent.

Lack of a signature won't get you off anything in any state that I am aware of. It simply signifies that you have received a copy and if you refuse to sign - the cop can arrest you. Lack of it violates no legal procedure that I'm aware of.

If I'm wrong - someone cite the appropriate case law.

Oh okay. Pretty sure insurance will take in to account any moving violation you're found guilty of (aka if you pay the fine).

Yeah, but by how much? I pay about $1900 for a year now. If it's only another $50 then I guess it's not that big of a deal and I could save the DD course for another time.

How long have you had the tint, and how many tickets and/or pull overs because of the tint?

I can only imagine the ridiculously complex formulas insurance companies use to calculate rate increases depending on the severity of the violation, the location, prior violations, etc. With my ticket "experience" in the past, my insurance rates have increased anywhere between $50-$200 year - but again, I get older each year, more time has lapsed since previous violations, SO many factors that can change the $$ outcome. I imagine with that speed you have a mandatory court appearance? If it's your first *major* violation then when you go to court talk with the prosecutor and get it knocked down to maybe just a fine, or something. Worth a try!

I've had the tint for about 15 months and I've gotten FOUR tint tickets. The cost of the tickets has now exceeded the cost of getting the tint put on. It's kind of ridiculous now; everyone I know tells me to have the tint removed but I like the way it looks and I don't plan on staying in NJ forever so..meh.

Nope, since it was below 25 mph I can just request Defensive Driving through the mail. Mail the ticket in and they mail me the info I need to complete it. I've gone down the the muni court house on several occasions and it's not fun. It's filled with illegal aliens, lots of failure to provide insurance or driving without a license cases.

It's pretty sweet I can just mail the ticket in.

Hm, interesting. Amazing how different the repercussions are depending on your state lol. Well that sounds pretty good then, wouldn't worry too much about your insurance increasing a lot.

It won't even show up on the records since it's deferred disposition through Driver Safety Course. Pretty cool stuff so long as I don't get nailed again in 12 months.

BUT...you have a yellow car, where mine is grey (less noticeable to ticketers)...I could just tint back windows, but I think I would be happier with front tinted as well.

Decisions, decisions...
