Default My E36 and F1 Technology videos

As a few of you know I recently have gotten myself into a TIAG 98 M3 coupe.

I would like to thank Klaus @ Exclusivemotors in Placentia CA! Great guy and a pleasure to buy a car from.

Will update occasionally.

Enjoy the F1 videos and I hope it gives you an insight into real mechanics. Although we all know you "e36" guys are world class F1 mechanics secretly...

Just want you to know that some of the mods that look or work very well on an e46 don't work on the e36. I am very big into the e46 generation- non m's mostly. For example, the LED taillights are not nearly as nice or nice looking for the e36 as e46. The 18" V710's, well 18's can be slightly rough on an e36. HIDs will not work in the stock headlamps. They actually can melt. Head on over to DDM and get the DJ Auto headlights with HIDs for $170 shipped. The Euro projector look is just upgraded OEM, it is what the car should have come with. Oh and maintenance first, definitely +1.

Car is perfect. Never had a abusive owner or modifications. No accidents (I know how lucky did I get!). BMW CCA owners, car fax shows maintenance done every 3-4k miles (car fax is 4 pages long). Intr. is very well kept, the driver side Vader was a little worn but was redyed upon my request. All body panels are OEM still. Radiator, cooling, belts ect. all done by dealer.

I would like to thank Klaus @ Exclusivemotors in Placentia CA! Great guy and a pleasure to buy a car from.

Starting this project I want to keep the car as OEM as possible with subtle aftermarket changes.

If anyone has new/slightly used condition parts PM me

maintenance first always and....

2) ZHP knob is better
3) Not very oem like and kinda lame imo
4) OEM Euro ZKW projectors > than bling blang HIDs in shitty US headlights
8) there are better options out there imo
9) fail - very non-oem and they look dumb on an E36
11) very fail - very very non-oem and looks horrible (reference: www.bimmerforums.com)
12) what shocks?

There is a major focus on the "looks". There is more to a car than looks - based on your current list. You have a clean car why destroy it with ghetto mods. Too bad the driver's seat was re-dyed. OEM seats never look the same after a re-dye. Unless it was super destroyed I would have tried over methods before going to those extremes.

My list for your car would be:
1) maintenance
2) TCK or GC coilovers
3) relatively light wheels with good rubber
4) leatherique
5) ZKWs
6) excess money for maintenance, driving schools, DE's, autoxs.

GL.

LOL ok good luck bud.

How do you know your car maintenance free until the next oil change? Is your oil pump nut done? Perhaps the engine could grenade itself tomorrow. You obviously haven't owned any E36 very long if that is your response... although in other threads you continue to recommend people take their cars to shops for work that could easily be done by an owner with a few tools and some motivation, so perhaps we don't see eye-to-eye on car related things. You do also have in your sig that you are gonna do an s54 swap which makes me think you either know these cars very well... or have no clue. Putting an S54 into an E36 is not a walk in the park.

I guess you posted this on the forum for no comments on the list or ??

Cool - well if you do attempt an S54 swap let us know how it goes.

As far as members on this forum, I think you'd be hard pressed to find another group that is more innovative with DIYs and working on their own cars. Seems like you currently rely on your friend mechanic and dealer to work on your car, so I wouldn't start slinging around comments about their abilities with working on cars, as many of the guys on this forum know these cars inside and out.

Although your comment is probably more true for the E46 section of this forum which seems to primarily be young guys whom had the parents buy their cars or older people that know nothing about cars other than installing CSL trunks and front bumpers.

Agreed - safe driving!

"Most"? Are we reading the same forums?

If you ignore the drive-by posters, I'd venture to say most on here certainly know their way around a wrench, especially when the other end is on an M.
