Default What's everyone using for data acquisition?

I am currently running a Racepak G2X. Thinking of going with a Traqmate. Anyone have used both care to comment? I read that Traqmate is a little bit more user friendly regarding video editing?

I've had both and liked the G2X better for it's rock solid data quality and idiot proof use in the car while driving. Traqmate has more usable software and more users. I ended up getting so frustrated with my traqmate that I sold it. I'd probably get this one next: http://www.videovbox.co.uk/

An old SS with system comparisons - needs updating.

Can't comment on the G2X, but I am happy with my Traqmate / Chase Cam combo. I haven't really used any other data acquisition so I can't make a fair comparison. The software is extremely easy to use, however, and the Traqmate / Chase Cam combo is seamless.

I have both hardwired in and control them from my console:

I use traqmate and chasecam also. I haven't tried anything else. Silber, love your setup.

What kind of data do you want to log? Are you just interested in lap times and camera footage, or do you want to go further and capture mechanical data like various temperatures, suspension travel, throttle position, etc?

To start press any key. Where's the "any" key?

Question for you guys that used in-car cam as well. What's everyone driving style regarding steering inputs? I started out with the BMW Pugetsound chapter and they were pretty adamant about smooth steering inputs with minimal steering wheel movement.

So as I progressed through out the years and lap time began to dip lower, I began to start watching other driver's in-car footage and noticed that the racers/faster guys hands are constantly moving the steering wheel to get a feel/catching the front tires?

I also got ride-alongs with the faster drivers and noticed this as well. However, not all of them do it. So when you guys are moving the steering wheels...are you trying to steer the car back on track/catching the car?

I tried both and seems like if I was more smooth with the car, my lap time is lower...may be just need more practice with feeling the car??

I feel that everyone has a different style and sense of what to do. I personally try to do super smooth inputs and I am not trying to "catch" anything. After all I do HPDE's so its not a competition for me
