I appreciate the 'overmodding' comments, but really, if you're keeping this car for a while then I don't see why this should deter anyone. You mod according to your tastes and budget. If he desire it and has the budget, why not? 'Overmodding' is from your perspective, not necessarily his or anyone elses.
And I doubt this mod is really 4-5K. Maybe 4K at the absolute max but even then that's assuming a 2K labor charge since the roof can be had for about $1600. All this is a drop in the bucket when talking about ferraris, so I don't know where that piece of advice came from... |

Sure you can do anything you want with your money and car, but there are smarter places to put it than an M3. And remember, the more mods you put on a car, the less desirable it is to a potential buyer down the road. A decent 308 can cost in the mid 20's, and is as reliable as the M3. Which do you think will hold its value better in 10 years.... or be worth more?

Not everyone cares to buy a car for investment purposes, so this ferrari vs. M3 thing, again, is rather ridiculous considering the topic of this thread. |

buying the cf roof and freight shipping, paying labor, buying a new headliner and whatever other structural support that you also have to buy.. all this stuff adds up. if you have the $4k to do this, i don't see what's stopping you.. unless that $4k can better serve you for something else.

Be careful man, I've heard a few horror stories. Leaky roofs suck.

I guess that depends on where you get it done. I would look into a shop that has already done it a few times.

That's in pounds. If you convert it to USD, it's around $2200.
