even if you have the free recall sheet or whatever it is still void if your car has any suspension modifications correct? or is it just any modifications at all?

i think in the settlement it says if you have aftermarket suspension or wheels, however i have stock suspension and aftermarket wheels when i got my car inspected and they are covering it.
so it really depends on the dealership but if you have aftermarket suspension, you are more than like gonna get crap from the dealership about it.

the reason you are seeing more threads now is that it is a fatigue issue, it takes time for a crack to form and propagate, it's not an issue the happens overnight

Still doesn't excuse BMW from selling us a poorly designed product. I've never heard of Vette's/Porsches/Subaru's or other perfomance cars built in the 2000's have as much trouble with owners cracking the chassis at stock power levels, and we're only dealing with a 6 cylinder and <300 ft-lbs of torque. All of these car types will see the abuse of hard acceleration/cornering/braking, it is why we buy them.

Does anyone know if BMW will reimburse actions taken to prevent it from cracking?

I have seen ZERO correlation between subframe cracks and track use. I have asked many people at the track about subframe issues, and NONE ever had a problem. What I HAVE seen is some correlation between subframe cracks and people who have enjoyed power launching their cars from a standing start (and as we know from many posts here - there are plenty of people who do this).

Tracked cars are the best maintained and most intensively and frequently inspected cars out there.

No you dont want to do that. The welding needs to be done precisely, this is not something you want to experiment with. Sorry just being blunt about it.
