Check for white residue on fan shroud. SMG gear position sensor shat out 2000-3000 miles later, diagnosed and fixed it myself. Been fantastic ever since. Advice: Don't fear the SMG, people only fear it because they don't understand how everything works - it's faily simple and a blast once you figure it out.

Flew down to Hollywood from Saint Augustine and drove it home. When planning trip, based on the research I acquired I felt confident enough to make the trip for a purchase though I was not emotional about it and had a back-up plan to return home if something was not kosher. The forums insight into common problems allowed me to purchase with the rear clunk and still maintain confidence to drive it home. Test drive was long and extensive, local roads as well as highways. I let the car sit for an extended period of time prior driving in case of overheating or any other tell tale sign of an issues. The price was right though I made one attempt at a lesser price but had the full price as an acceptable amount in my pocket. Do your research, don’t buy on emotions, have a back up plan, and above all else, don’t be afraid to walk away. Having the right mindset when purchasing a vehicle is everything.

Bought my first M3 yesterday:
2002 M3 SMG Convertible 36,147 miles. Car in really good shape considering it's 10 years old. A few very minor scratches, No paint work. Black leather shows some wear on driver bolster. Cup holder area a little worn. Two small storage holders ahead of shifter feel "Sticky". Michelin Pilot's 50%. Overall pretty clean. $19,500.

Honestly not sure what to call color. The seller called it Carbon Black, but it looks more dark blue metallic to me.

Previously a corvette guy for my toy car, but with 2 young kids, I decided we needed the ability to bring the family.
