Default Next 'mod'; but I have a question for the detailing / paint gurus.

I've been lazily searching for a wingless trunk for my car pretty much since I bought it. I'm doing a seat swap (hopefully next weekend) and went to grab a heated seat wiring harness from a car that was being parted out locally...

Well, look at that, it happened to be a Hellrot sedan. Score.

I was on the fence about picking it up, but Ben smacked some sense into me and took some of the price on as a belated birthday gift (thanks again man ).

Anyways, save for a small dent above the roundel that'll have to be PDR'd out, it's in nice shape. The only problem is this damned writing on it, which i'm not quite sure how to remove.

Any suggestions?

You can see it here on the left...

And a closeup. It appears to have been some sort of paint pen.

Cleaning up pretty nice...

I'll probably run this for a while, just for kicks...

Anyways, I hit it with some rubbing alcohol, which didn't do a darn thing to it. Any suggestions?

Is it written on the paint- or was it applied on something thin over top? If its in/ on the paint- try buffing it with a fairly aggressive polish.

If it's some time of thin vinyl or something- use goo gone and a heat gun. If the goo gone doesn't work they have a new stronger version of goo gone that could possibly do some damage to the paint but takes everything pff. It's worked for me on really engrained things, I applied it with a q-tip right on top of the imperfection and sprayed it off with simple green right away.

Try a clay bar first. If that doesn't work you can use either a polish or some laquer thinner.

I was gonna say you better leave the 328 badge on for a bit. That'll be the new trend. The regular 3 series guys debadge? We'll put 328 badges on ours for extra confusion.

I have a 318i badge on my ///M.

It's really not a bad idea........you'd be surprised how many people try to run you and how many I leave guessing thinking they just got their ass handed to them by a 318.
