I've never seen one, but then again there are lots of things I haven't seen.
I know it wouldn't be a true brushed aluminum finish and what not, what I meant was I would paint it in the same color as brushed aluminum in hopes of somewhat replicating it. I know the texture can't be replicated.

I wouldn't personally paint it. Unless you do a really pro job it's going to wear with everyone pulling on it and potentially get scratched etc.

Cloth is a good route. Or new door cards. Or just deal with it and worry about other things

My mom's highlander has painted brushed aluminum (all of the trim is plastic) and I'm sure plenty of other cars do as well. I'd say go for it, it could turn out really nice. If it looks bad, you'll already know how to take it apart to replace it.

The ally trim in the e46 is not a brushed effect, its just real aluminum with some sort of coating on the face of it, i have it in my e39 and i think it would be fairly easy to replicate the look, just match the silver and paint it, you need to do a good job, esp if you are doing the door handles, im sure ive seen some pics of this (only 1 or 2), and they really do look just like my e39 trims in the photos, and fantastic in an all black m3. I like the wood in my m3 but would really like to see pics of silver trimmed m3's, its the only mod i would even consider.
