Default General\Service Maintenance Opinion

Okay here we go, another thread about maintenance, i've searched i've read, just asking for opinions now...

info: 2002 M3 (obviously) 25000 miles, yes garage queen. inspection I due.

incident: called up indy that only works on bmw's (pretty reputable), guy states that yeah defiantly do all the fluids, tranny and diff aren't due til inspection II but since it's a time thing not mileage, recommends to do it.

Okay so change all fluids, i told him to check RTAB and subframe for cracks (crossing fingers praying to God it's okay).

NOW, here is my dilemma....he states the valves aren't really necessary at 25K they came adjusted from factory and unless noise would let it go maybe to 35-40K to do them.

What you guys feel about the valve situation? Do them or let it go maybe another year?

Thanks for tuning in...opinions are appreciated.

Valve adjustment is done at every inspection. I'd also check the belts. They might be showing some wear. Maybe some other general maintenance items like spark plugs, air and cabin filters could use a checking too.

Valves I think are done roughly every 30K, so you might want to consider this, especially since this would be your first valve adjustment and I would imagine that, due to initial break in wear, would be the most likely to actually reveal valves in need of adjustment.

Fluids and rubber/plastic bits would also have a time aspect to their maintenance, so things like steering, brake and drivetrain fluid changes might be a good preventative exercise along with the belts.

Do the valve adjustment. If BMW had included it while they were footing the bill, it must be important to do it each inspection.

Even if you want him to do the valve adjustment - it does need it every Inspection, I think you should take it someplace else. Sounds like he's cutting corners.
