Its a different style of car completely. Depends on what you're looking for. Drive both and see what suits your desires.

Had to read this thread since one was trying to race me in traffic the other day.
Sorry, I don't have an un-biased opinion on the matter so good luck with whatever you chose. ![]() |

As for comparing (2005) GTO and (2006) M3 - the former sold new for about $30K+; the latter sold new for about $60K-. That might be a small clue that this entire discussion is absurd. But each car in its own way is a great hooning device. I bought a 2005 GTO (6.0) new - kept it for 3 years - enjoyed it immensely. I replaced it with a CPO'd 2006 M3 Coupe - over the past two years I have enjoyed it immensely as well. They are just effing cars, not religions. I don't think that anyone (with an open mind!) could go wrong with either choice - they are totally different experiences. Just buy the best example that you can afford.

The 5.7L GTO is definitely slower than an E46 M3, and I'd guess even the 6.0L cars aren't exactly drag-strip monsters with their IRS. Plus, the GTO is around 400lbs heavier IIRC, but will certainly be cheaper to live with on average.
Drive good examples of both and go with a car you can afford very comfortably.

is this a serious question. Pontiac's are the $%^7iest cars. If you really want just power get an sti for 15 grand and swap in a gt35r. Its all about power and luxury. Therefore M3 FTW |
