Default 2008 STI to E9X M3

Hello All.

Noob here.

I was wondering if you guys can steer me into the right direction. As the title says, I'm thinking of moving from the STI to an M3.

The STI is a great car. Being tuned to a full stage 2 in power and suspension, the car is the blast to drive. As of now, I want a more complete package, that includes some comfort for a change.

Please help me decide...

Sedan vs Coupe?
Black vs white?
Competition package or not?
18s / 19s?
(Manual for sure)

I'm going to a dealer this weekend for an appraisal for a trade in, as well as a test drive.

Open to all suggestions.

Huge step up from an STI. I came from a 2005 STi myself.

You will get smashed on a trade unfortunately. Probably looking at ~22k offer from a dealer. But enjoy the test drive. You're better off selling it private party.

Comp package doesn't do much if you are already going to change out suspension and wheels anyway. And the comp package has cast wheels vs. the optional 19's which are forged and lighter (and for that matter the stock 18's which are also cast).

haha... funny. i'm considering going the other route. wanna swap?

jk jk. you'll get a mix of responses from the bmw fanboys to legitimate enthusiasts that can see both sides of the argument. it all boils down to what are your needs and what car best meets them.

Well you are a definitely a r1cer so you should probably go JDM sooner rather than later, I mean look at your yellow headlights.

Isn't there more to the competition package than just wheels? Something about performance oriented mapping?

Why would you go the other route? Do you not like your e46?

There's nothing wrong with JDM!
Have you seen M3s with JDM wheels? Would that be considered **** too?
I thought yellow headlights had to do with visual acuity.. or were those only fogs..

Go drive an M3. All the stuff you are asking about in your 1st post is personal preference. If it were me, I would go with a white coupe with CF roof. Ignore the comp package, and get the 18's if you are gonna swap out wheels and put some coilovers on. And unless you are dead set on a manual, give the DCT a try. It is quite incredible.
