Default Slowest Recorded 1/4 mile time in boost history!

I changed my mind. The time was so horrible and out of line it has to be wrong. I only had time for the one run too. Tomorrow is another day and i will do several runs and we will look at those. I honestly need to be in denial about the ET time tonight. Otherwise i WILL GO INSANE BEING UPSET OVER IT. And it could all be over some anomaly,

Best to forget it and try again on Sat. This time multiple runs!

We did several dyno runs. The first couple were scewed because we found out that you need to shoot AIR in to the brake duct where the CAI is on the HKS kit. We got THREE blowers going and finally got 421.69 peak HP and 298.11 torque on the Dyno jet in abiout 95 degrees, similart to the Mustang run. Wow, that seems real low! THE DYNO JET recoreded 99 deress and only 33 % humidity. It was miore like 100% I think. My car tep gauge read 95 degrees; It could have been maybe 97-98 degrees. It wws pretty hot. Piss poor figures, not with standing.

My Mustang NA was 288HP, my Dyno jet NA was 304.

Jean said my Dynojet should be like 430HP if i got 417 on the MUstang. Hey, I dunno! My quarter mile times are slower than most guys stock times!
Maybe not on the quarter mile. I HAVE to think its all a big mistake somehow.
A SINGLE run is not enuf data to go on, is it?

They BOUGHT mke a chap hand pump and they PUMPED out 5 gallons of 93 octane gas. And we added 2 galllons of VP MS109.
It takes TWENTY MINUTES or SO to get the ECU to get used to advancing the ignition timing until it knocks and then back it off some.
They did NOT kniow how to fast track this. It happened automatically in its own time frame.

VP MS109 max HP 439.28 and torque 301.16 VERY poor indeed. This is terrible

440HP is about where these kits are in better weather on pump gas I am told.

Too bad it only gets cold for a VERY brief time each year. here in rainy humid South Florida.

I just cant win. The HPF kits are looing bettetr and better all the time. There is no quibliong over hp IN A HEAT INDEX WHEN YOU ARE PUTTING DOWN 750 hp LOL.

I say that but in all honesty you can buy s WHOLE 900 HP Toyota Supora for almost the price Of a HPF kit instaleld for an M3!!!!!!

I wanted to just give up a few hiourts ago I was so demoraslized. But I am nio quitter.Besides I HAVE THE EQUIVALENT IF THE NATIONAL DEBT A OF sLOVINIA INTO a boosted HP option

are you going for nitrous set up? I think 75 shot will help you with #'s. What was the 1/4 mile times?

Don't get so wrapped up in the numbers. If the car is running well that's all that matters. Who cares if it only makes 4xx whp on whatever dyno.

You can spend tons of cash pursueing a "number" and the only thing you'll end up with is an empty wallet.

Dave I've been following all your posts with interest and curiosity... really appreciate all your candor and information!

I have a quick thought and question. Is your Borla mid pipe the older version or the newer V2? The reason I ask is the original is notorious for dropping torque in the low and mid range. I'm not talking small amounts either, 123 to 147 ft/lbs vs 220 for a stock exhaust M3.

Read the first post in this thread http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showt...hlight=Exhaust and download the exhaust matrix spreadsheet http://www.brouwersusa.com/Exhaust%20Matrix.xls.

It's the whole reason the V2 came out but a lot of V1s are still likely picked up used.

Just a thought....

I am pretty sure I have a Borla V2. I got it from Bob at bimmer performasnce store in 2008. Was he selling the V2 then? It wasnt old stock.

But something to think about. Thanks.

Docwyte, my car was running perfectly BEFORE i spent 17k on upgrades. I dont know what my 1/4 mile times were then, but I am thinking maybe around 13.7-13.8 wiuth 304hp.

I did a 13.57 ripping off what felt like a flawless run. If I was Lighter on gas in the tank , then take off a tenth, maybe .2 at the very most. Add a nitrous cooling spray bar and I am still in the 13's . I have seen stock cars do better, Its embarrassing and I am pissed. You can say the 17k I spent was "just a number" all you want. Mind you a lot of that money spent was for "support" for the horsepower and torque that just seems to be missing. Where did it go? I am getiing robbed somewhere. The power SEEMS OK, pretty wimpy in the big picture. The car doesnt FEEL very fast. So the delivery of the power seems to be a problem. 13.57 ...sheesh. Thats terrible! 2.0 60 FOOT AND ONLY 103MPH TOP SPEED.
THE last quarter mile i did was 9.45, a lot of that on one wheel. Now THAT is starting to get interesting. Hey I just wanted to do a 12.5, I would have been happy all day, ecstatic even. It would show improvement.

I have been MORE than happy, no ecstactic with every upgrade i have made(and there habve been MANY) up till now. You couldnt use the word ecstatic for how I feel now.

Any ideas? The mid pipe theory is worth looking into. But i think my NA figures were pretty good.

EDIT: I found an old NA dyno run. I was right above 200 ft lbs all the way. I always had the V2 Borla. My NA figures were pretty good.

i JUST looked at my dyno jet print out from yesterday. I am making 220-230 RWT at 2800RPM which is close to my stock NA because the supercharger doesnt affect the car at that RPM except maybe that 10ft lb gain.

l noticed Bob at BPS was involved too. He would be selling the most advanced in 2008 which was the V2. It came paired with the RE exhaust which i feel is as good as any out there as far as performance. It is presently pretty loud now with no cats and the blower. The blower finally gave my system a drone at high cruising speeds of say 90MPH.

I have to attribute the time to some defect in driving. But WHAT? I KNOW when i mess up a run and this run felt near perfect. I shifted flawlessly. Its real hard not to click off VERY consistent runs with the SMG especially if you use the SMG launch. Until i get my launch RPM raised to 4k a 60 foot time of 2.1 or so is all I will ever get. But i have seen cars do 11's with a 2.0 60 foot time.

UNLESS the clutch is slipping slightly on EACH shift. I dont feel any slip. But that is the ONLY thing i can think of. I dont have THAT much power to stress a stock clutch and we did not see any slipping on the dyno.

My top speed of only 103 really concerns me. i HAD SOME mix of RACE gas in the tank too. It should have been at the WORSE a 12.9
I am WAY WAY shy of that. My goal ia a 12.5 and I am a full second off. That is like 150-200hp worth isnt it? It;s a lot, I know that.

It will never end.. once you get the power.. then the suspension will be the weak link with bad traction..

You are either happy with what you have and you enjoy it.. or your never happy and the quest for more power never ends..

Just curious, how are you measuring these times?

Done at the track? or you using Gtec, or some other in car device?

I get every other wednesday off.... We should go to PBIR together.

I want to do a test on my runs before i get my 410's
