I'm thinking about getting a cheaper car for a daily driver and have been considering something like a 2007 TSX or TL, I would get automatic transmission, the car I would buy would ideally have 30k miles or fewer and be in in the ~$20k range. I really despise FWD but am willing to compromise for a little while to have a really cheap and reliable daily driver, I still need a few luxuries though and these cars seem to have them (decent seats, bluetooth, etc). I'll probably only keep it for a year or so and then get something else.

Wife drives a TL. Nice car really. Quiet, comfortable, good amount of power, and a really nice interior. All the materials seem high quality. Most everything on it is standard equipment (except Nav) so you do get a lot for the money. Nav, BT, back up camera, XM, touch screen. Just about everything can be voice activated. Pretty neat actually but be prepared to shell out big bucks if something goes wrong with those systems. What I love about her TL is that there's zero road and wind noise...better than my M3
... not to mention that the dash doesn't rattle like my M3's does? The car has been very reliable with the exception of the power windows. Had problems with them not closing all the away. Dealer repaired under warranty though. What you have pictured is the TL-S. Slightly more power than the regular TL, different interior lights, brembos, better seats, paddle shifters, etc. Under steer is a b!tch and you will have to hang on to the steering wheel if you gun it. I ordered a TL-S back in '07 but ended up walking away from the deal when I met my M3 ![]() Don't know anything about the TSX but I would definatelly but a TL again. My wife has a TL. It's fine. Good engine, which the slushbox really thwarts actually. Nice equipment, built well. Ride is very bad though, esp for a luxury car, and the suspension deterioates rapidly with age IMO. It's also by no means a sports sedan, and while the steering is far, the overall handling is boring. It's a mass market US type Japanese luxury car. Good value, good build.
the TSX is a little different animal because it's the European Accord, which means it has more of a driving pretense. Better handling IMO. Kind of a weedy 200/210 bhp engine, and in many respects it's a mini TL, but it looks better IMO, has better gas mileage, and is more fun to drive, although not by much. I would go with the TSX -- although they hold their value a bit too well for my liking. Have you considered a Civic Si?

I had and Integra 10 years ago before I got the E36, a Civic EX before that and a CRX Si before that, the hondas were always pretty easy cars to own and didn't require nearly as much attention as any of the BMW's I've been around, overall pretty inexpensive to operate, cheaper fuel and insurance cost too. I was also considering a Toyota Tacoma but I would prefer the car for a single vehicle, and I still have an FJ at my disposal for the time being if I want to go off-roading.

In that case I would get the TSX is you want optimal efficiency. If you can deal with a bit less gas milage and reliability then go for a TL. It looks better and has a bit more luxury.
FYI...I think only 2007 and up TSX and TL have aux inputs... it may even be 08s. |
