Not enough "goods" to be worth it, IMO. Replica 18s weigh 24/25 lbs each (I have a set on the Estoril) and really don't look good compared to OEM wheels. You will not notice any performance difference going from OEM 19s to an 18" rep. At MOST you might notice a tiny bit more oomph in 1st/2nd gear....but even that is questionable. But better handling???? Not a chance in hell. I autoX my OEM 19s and run faster lap times than some guys with square OEM 18s and mega camber.
Now, on the other hand, moving to strong light weight 18s would be worth it. In other words, go big or don't bother.

i pretty much agree with the above. hardly any noticeable performance benefits to switching. but the fact that 18" tires are so much cheaper makes it worth by itself. the ability to fit a taller sidewall is what makes it attractive personally, but then again 17"s would then be even better in that regard... g'luck OP

The tires on these rims are Dunlop SP Sport Maxx? I think that is it.
If I get $800 for these am I getting a good deal? These 19s are harsh even with the Pss10 cranked all the way as soft as it would go. Then again I am coming from a luxury car. Damn car is so noisy...guess I just have to get used to.

Let me know if you have someone that wants to buy two sets. I'd like to sell mine as well. It's painful at track days to be the only dude with 19"s.

more like a down grade in both look and strength to me if you go for the 18 rep. I would either go for a good looking, really light, and strong 18 forged or stick with OEM.
I checked tirerack and don't see much of a different in price for tire between 18 and 19. I mean 20 bucks extra per tire is not really a big deal IMO consider each tire will last you 10000+ miles.

I hear the new bushings in the front and back the previous owner put on would make my ride really harsh.
I hear this loud almost metal sound from the front end when I hit a bump. Remember PSS10 setup with new bushings from Turner Motorsports....

VMR has a great wheel that will be lighter than your normal 19" OE set up, but along with that, 18"s will give you a better ride quality, and more tire options which is the reason some guys on this forum do that. Feel free to PM me if you want some VMR wheels!

If you look at the 225/255 tires you'll notice that they're rather tall, with virtually the same sidewall as the typical 18" tire sizes. I personally can't tell the difference in ride quality (or performance) between them and I'm a picky SOB when it comes to NVH. Bottom line: if you want a real performance difference you have to go ultra light weight. A 24lb rep ain't gonna do jack. Quote:
